Fresh Pages and Second Chances

🌷 My Book Addiction & More

April 2026

Hello fellow readers 🤍

There’s something about April that feels like a quiet beginning.

The days grow a little longer, the air feels softer, and everything seems to whisper that it’s okay to start again slowly, gently, in your own time.

That’s what this month feels like for me. A return to something I’ve always loved.

My Book Addiction & More has been a part of my life for years, and reopening this space feels like turning back to a familiar chapter one filled with stories, comfort, and connection.

Each month, on the first, I’ll be sending a cozy note like this one sharing the books I’m reading, new releases worth discovering, and little glimpses into my reading and writing life.

If you’re someone who finds comfort in stories, who loves getting lost in a good book, and who believes words can heal you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

I’m so glad you’re here.

Love,
Kelly 📚

💬 From My Bookshelf

Right now my reading stack feels a little like the season itself a mix of reflection, hope, and quiet moments.

Cleopatra’s Riches by Martha Adams
This is a revised and updated version from internationally renowned Certified Financial Planner and financial educator, Martha Adams. It reveals a transformative new way to think and feel about, and engage with, money. She offers a fresh, human-centered approach that puts you at the heart of your own personalized financial journey.

No Bad Parts by Richard Schwartz, PhD

Is there just one “you”? We’ve been taught to believe we have a single identity, and to feel fear or shame when we can’t control the inner voices that don’t match the ideal of who we think we should be. Yet Dr. Richard Schwartz’s research now challenges this “mono-mind” theory. “All of us are born with many sub-minds―or parts,” says Dr. Schwartz. “These parts are not imaginary or symbolic. They are individuals who exist as an internal family within us―and the key to health and happiness is to honor, understand, and love every part.”

A Montana Inheritance by Jim Overstreet

Rusty Blackstone, World Champion Steer Wrestler, gets life-shaking news from his former girlfriend and first love, Jenny. He has a five-year-old son named Todd. Even worse, Jenny is now the ex-wife of Rusty’s worst enemy and rodeo nemesis, Warren Weston, who claims Todd as his own. To add even more tension to their rivalry, Warren is also dating Rusty’s sister.

🌸 Spring Book Picks

There’s something special about spring reading stories that feel hopeful, reflective, and full of possibility.

A few authors I always find myself drawn to this time of year:

  • Sally Rooney — thoughtful, emotional storytelling
  • Emma Donoghue — rich, immersive narratives
  • Cecelia Ahern — heartfelt and uplifting

Whether you’re reaching for something light or something deeply moving, spring always feels like the perfect time to begin a new story.

✨ Author Spotlight

One of my favorite parts of reading is discovering the people behind the stories.

Beginning next month, I’ll be sharing gentle conversations with authors about their writing journeys, inspiration, and the stories they feel called to tell.

✍️ Kelly Writes

Alongside being a reader, I’m also a writer.

My memoir Unbroken Spirit under my pen name Jade Lynn tells my journey through difficult seasons of life and what it means to rebuild, to heal, and to find yourself again.

Writing it changed me.

And this year, I’m slowly stepping back into that part of myself too.
