What makes me want to recommend a book?
For me, a book has to grab my attention and keep it. I want to get lost in the storyline, transported to another time and place. I want to feel like I’m right there, sitting on the sidelines, watching the story unfold.
When a book does that, it’s one I’ll highly recommend.
Another reason I recommend books is to support the authors. Having written and published my own story, I know how much hard work goes into writing a book. It means a lot to an author when someone takes the time to read their work and write an honest review.
On the other hand, there’s nothing worse than purchasing a book you’re looking forward to reading, only to realize within the first 20 pages that you just can’t get into it. What a disappointment!
Of course, not every book is going to appeal to every reader. That’s part of what makes reading so personal.
At the end of the day, I’m a fan of both reading and writing. If I can help readers discover a book they might love, or help an author reach someone new, I’m all for it.
And that’s what I hope to do here at My Book Addiction & More. Share my honest thoughts, celebrate authors and help readers discover their next great read.
